Steamed Fish Squares

Steaming is one of the healthiest options in cooking and various   steamed recipes made with rice, veggies, momos, fish, paneer, chicken, tofu and many more have been cherished by people worldwide. If you are on an oil-free diet, having steamed food is the best option. This is one of my experimental recipes but it turned out pretty well.

Serves 2

Ingredients

  1. 300 gms of boneless fish (I used basa)
  2. 1 tbsp of grated carrot
  3. 1 tbsp of  finely chopped coriander or any fresh herb of your choice
  4. 1 tbsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  5. Fresh green or red chillies as per your requirement
  6. 1 tbsp of olive oil
  7. Salt and pepper to taste.

    Procedure

    1. Clean the fish, wash and pat it dry with a kitchen towel multiple times to ensure that the fish is nice and dry.
    2. Take fish, lemon juice and green chillies in a mincer jar or a blender.
    3. It takes only one second. Just turn it on  and turn  it off  immediately.
    4. Take out the fish mixture in a bowl and add all the remaining ingredients to it. Mix well.
    5. Put a steamer with water in the  base and let it  come to a boil.
    6. Empty the  fish mixture into a rectangular fudge mould or any vessel  of  your choice.
    7. Level it with the back  of a knife to get a smooth surface.
    8.  Put it in the steamer and leave  it to steam on medium flame  for 15 minutes after which turn off the gas and let it rest for five  minutes.
    9. Cut into squares and serve hot  with tangy kasundi (Bengali mustard sauce).
    10. This can be paired with a thick  and creamy soup.
    11. Cut into small squares and place in canapes for parties,  as starters.
