Holiday recipe 4 – Homemade Hummus

A high protein dip made with chick peas and sesame seed, can be made earlier and stored in a container for three to four days in the fridge. This can be spread on bread slices or can be had with crackers or even bread sticks.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  1. Chick peas      – 100 gms
  2. Sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
  3. Lime juice       – 2 tbsp
  4. Garlic               – 4 cloves
  5. Salt                   – 1/2 tsp
  6. Extra virgin olive oil  – 2 tbsp.

For garnishing

Dried mint powder and paprika or red chilli powder.

Procedure

1.Soak the chick peas  in water for at least two hours.

2.Boil them till well done .Drain excess water .Keep  half a glass for mixing later

3.Take olive oil in a small wok. Add garlic cloves and white sesame seed to the oil.

4.Heat and let the garlic and sesame fry.

5.Take it off the heat.Do not let the garlic turn brown.

6.Put all the ingredients in the blender. Blend till you get a smooth  and satiny dip.

7. Transfer this to a container and garnish it with powdered dry mint leaves and paprika or chilli powder.

8. This dip tastes so good that people who refrain from butter a can spread it on their toasts or parathas.
